If the sun were to disappear...?

If the sun suddenly vanished, would the earth lose orbit right away, or in 8 minutes (as fast as it takes light from the sun to travel to the earth). I am wondering this because no force can travel faster than light, and I was wondering could the aftermath of the disappearance of a large source of gravity couldn't either.
