What kind of plant ground cover would be most appropriate in front of a vet hospital?

It would need to be something simple with relatively easy upkeep and can stand up against pet urine (as being right in front of a vet's means plenty of contact with urine and feces). I ask, because if we don't come up with something perfect, we will fill in these areas with pea gravel and leave it at that! :(
